Branta

Branta are large, sturdy herbivores that live in cold, mountainous regions. Quite a bit more durable than most lowland deer, they’re somewhat comparable to moose in strength, though less aggressive. Rather than the large horns of many deer they have two bony nose horns that jut up and outward. The branta’s powerful neck and shoulder muscles let them swing their head with incredible force, enough to throw many creatures away from them, and potentially off a cliff.

Despite their size and strength, branta are pretty shy and tend to flee unless cornered and prevented from escaping. In those cases they’ll use their horns to try and toss their predator away and get the space they need to run, but when pushed a branta is quite capable of bludgeoning many weaker predators to death, especially in small groups.

Originally from the 3.5 Frostburn book, where for some reason it was a magical beast. I’ve rectified that now. This post came out a week ago on my Patreon.
