Winterbole Sapling

The treants of the Vale are split into two constantly warring factions. Once though they were united under the leadership of a powerful archfey treant, Malorunth the Eternal Ash, who warded the Vale against invaders and ensured the massive forest that stretched from end to end was secure. Unfortunately, this was not to last as Malorunth died suddenly one day thousands of years ago, leaves falling from his petrified branches, and without his protection a great war came to the Vale, dragons swooping in to claim the territory for themselves.

While the treants eventually were able to drive back the invaders, their trust and unity was shattered just like the great forest. The evergreen treants were blamed for Malorunth’s sudden death, and accusations led to violence led to civil war. The conifers migrated to the north, settling in what is now the Winterbole while the deciduous treants remained in the Harken around Malorunth’s great corpse, hoping that one day they could return their protector to life.
